It is not the strongest of the species that survives,

YIN AND YANG
TWO NATURAL COMPLEMENTARY FORCES IN THE UNIVERSE

The original concept of yin and yang came from observing nature and the environment.  A yin environment originally referred to the cool, restful shady side of a slope.  A yang environment referred to the warm, sunny side with stimulating, active colors.  This philosophy was applied to other occurrences that occurred in pairs and had complementary and opposing natural characteristics.  Examples include sky and earth, day and night, water and fire, active and passive, male and female. Based upon these concepts, in ancient China, people recognized most things had yin and yang properties. Yin and yang may describe two aspects of the same phenomena such as the slope or they may delineate different objects like sky and earth.
Under yin yang philosophy, the world environment is a harmonious and holistic entity.  Yin and yang are the negative and positive phases in the cyclical flow of Chi. Together, they constitute the root of power, the natural beginning of creation.

At One Biosphere, we believe in the harmony of opposites in our environment.  All things environmental are interconnected with one another.  Yang energy embraces Yin energy and together they become one harmonious energetic interaction, a graceful flowing movement with no conflict of energy.

Yin & Yang and the Environment
The concept of Yin and Yang is integral to the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui that provides a means to harmonize the yin and yang energies of the environment. Usually, yang is associated with energetic qualities.  For example, movement outward toward the edge of a neighborhood or city environment and upward direction, heat, brightness, stimulation, activity and excitement are all yang qualities. Yin, on the other hand, is associated with the heart of a neighborhood or city environment, the physical form of an object and has calming qualities such as rest, inward and downward direction, cold, darkness, condensation, inhibition and nourishment.     Under yin yang philosophy, the world environment is a harmonious and holistic entity.  Yin and yang are the negative and positive phases in the cyclical flow of Chi. Together, they constitute the root of power, the natural beginning of creation.
